6-year-old boy dead after family dog ​​attack in Lorain, police say

LORAIN, Ohio – Lorain police are investigating after a 6-year-old boy was killed in a dog attack.

According to a press release, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Police said officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of East 31st Street because a child had been “attacked by a family dog.”

As officers began investigating the incident, Lorain Police officers were informed that the boy was pronounced dead due to the injuries he sustained in the attack.

The Lorain Police Detective Bureau and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene “to continue the investigation.”

“No further details are available at this time as the investigation is ongoing. The Lorain Police Department would like to thank the Friendship Animal Protective League for their response and assistance during this investigation. Additional details will be released at a later date,” Lorain police officials added in their press release.
