“I want Gowrie to be a very safe community for every resident,” said Anderson. “I am committed to maintaining and improving the safety and service of this community.”

Anderson graduated from Prairie Valley High School and the criminal justice program at Iowa Central Community College in 2012. She graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2017.

She began her career as a patrol officer with the Fort Dodge Police Department before transitioning to the role of detective. During her tenure with the city, she worked on numerous high-profile cases. She is also certified in mental health first aid, field training, and interview and interrogation training.

“Through my years of commitment to the City of Fort Dodge, it has become a matter close to my heart to be a public servant and protector of my community,” said Anderson. “Over the years, I have developed a love for my hometown and have chosen to pursue my passions and serve the community I grew up in. I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to become the new police chief of this community.”

Anderson said she is excited to begin her new role with the City of Gowrie and build positive interactions with members of the community she calls home.

“In many of my daily assignments in Gowrie I will be working as a peacemaker, mediator, family counselor and in many other areas,” said Anderson. “Whether it is a neighborhood dispute or finding a family’s lost dog wandering around the neighborhood, one way or another, as a servant of the Gowrie community, I will handle each and every public interaction in the hope of making a small difference in lives and the community. I hope that every small difference we make in Gowrie will impact the morale and livelihood of the community in a big way.”
