Bat attack on the Lower East Side: Suspects sought for beating of woman on the street

Lower East Side police are searching for two people who beat a woman with a bat earlier this month.

On Saturday, the NYPD released images of the suspects behind the brutal attack, which occurred outside an apartment building at 37 Monroe Street at around 2:08 p.m. on June 25.

According to law enforcement sources, the assailants approached the 58-year-old woman as she passed by the location and then began hitting her multiple times on the body with a baseball bat. The reason for the attack was not disclosed.

According to police, the perpetrators fled the scene on foot east on Madison Street after the attack.

The incident was reported to the 5th DistrictEmergency services took the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her leg and swelling to her head.

The 5th Precinct has seen a slight increase in the number of serious assaults since the beginning of the year. According to the latest CompStat report, 99 assaults were recorded as of June 23, three more than at the same time last year.
