Rain in Delhi: Operations at T1 suspended indefinitely; Indigo and SpiceJet flights to operate from THESE terminals

Rainfall in Delhi: Operations at Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 have been suspended indefinitely after a roof collapsed on Friday morning, killing one person and injuring six others.

Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport is mainly used for domestic flights.

“All Indigo and SpiceJet flights departing and arriving from T1 will be postponed until further notice,” Delhi airport officials said.

The airport announced that Indigo flights will now operate from T2 and T3, while SpiceJet flights will be diverted to T3.

IndiGo is closely monitoring the situation

IndiGo said in several tweets that the airline sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to those whose travel plans were disrupted due to the structural damage to T1 following the roof collapse at Delhi airport.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to update you on any further developments. Investigations ongoing

Indian Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said an investigation has been launched and experts will be called in to look into the collapse of the canopy at Delhi airport’s T1 terminal.

“We will also bring experts from the ministry to investigate this. Action will be taken based on the report that will come,” the minister told the news agency. ANI.

DIAL sets up technical panel

Airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said it had set up a technical committee to investigate the roof collapse.

“While the cause of the collapse is being investigated, the main cause appears to be the persistent heavy rain of the last few hours,” it said in a statement.

Minister visits injured

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu visited the injured at AIIMS hospital. “I have spoken to the doctors and ensured that the best treatment is being provided. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. We are committed to their speedy recovery and safety,” Naidu said.

Passengers receive refunds

Following the incident, Minister Naidu said that passengers would receive a full refund of their airfare or would be given the option to book alternative flights and routes.

“We are determined to provide compensation to the families of the deceased and the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji is closely monitoring the situation and has assured us of his full support. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this unfortunate event.”

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol said that Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 of the airport would continue to function normally and that a detailed structural inspection would be carried out at all airports.
