Bakersfield man killed in collision on Highway 155

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A Bakersfield man died in a head-on collision on Highway 155 near Sawmill Road Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 44-year-old man died at the scene of the accident at 10:15 p.m., officials said. His name will be released by the medical examiner.

The driver of the other vehicle, Victoria Gomez, 34, of Bakersfield, suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Kern Medical, a CHP news release said.

Officials say the man was driving a Toyota Prius west on Highway 155 and crossed into the eastbound lanes, where he collided with a Chevy Impala driven by Gomez. Investigators are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
