Disneyland’s burning Maleficent dragon accident was mocked in a theme park competitor’s new Halloween show

Knott’s Berry Farm fired some incendiary shots at Disneyland.

The California theme park – located right next door to Disneyland in California – poked fun at a recent accident at the OG House of Mouse resort, where the giant Maleficent dragon from the popular Fantasmic series accidentally caught fire.

Several guest videos from the Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween event earlier this week show a giant dragon appearing during a show called ” The hanging: Not cancelled.

“Oh, f— me!” one of the characters says as the dragon catches fire, before explicitly referring to Disneyland and the city in which the park is located by name. “Where did you get that thing? Anaheim?”

Representatives for Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Disneyland’s “Maleficent” dragon made headlines last April after an apparent malfunction caused the 45-foot-tall structure to burst into flames midway through the show, prompting Disney to implement similar pyrotechnic effects at parks around the world temporarily discontinued.

“The dragon’s head started glowing and I see fire and some kind of smoke coming out,” Disneyland guest Elaine Gilmer told local news, describing the accident at the time. “I thought, ‘Oh…they added some new stuff because that’s never happened before.'”

Although Knott’s Berry Farm was founded in 1920 – 35 years before Walt Disney opened Disneyland – and is primarily aimed at different target groups, playful rivalries regularly arise between the parks due to their close proximity.
