Saweetie responds to criticism following incident at Chicago Vegandale Festival

Saweetie has a few words for people who are negative about their actions during a Chicago Festival.

On Sunday, Saweetie graced the stage at the Vegandale Festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. Although the set started well, it was abruptly cut short after a fight reportedly broke out. A video from the event quickly went viral on social media, showing the moment Saweetie paused her show to address the crowd.

“I know you’re not doing what I think you are,” she said. “Is everyone safe?”

Later that day, Saweetie expressed concern for attendees, tweeting, “Hope everyone got home safe tonight. The crowd looked crazy.”

Unfortunately, Saweetie’s comments did not sit well with some who felt her statements were not sincere. In fact, one user wrote, “It was a celebration! Straight (clown). Don’t bring your ass back to Chicago; you’ve done enough already… There were babies out there getting trampled for nothing. Then (you came) back (talking about), ‘I’m gonna tell y’all what my type is.’ We (don’t give a shit) at this point.”

Saweetie responded to the criticism without hesitation and explained why she decided to continue her performance after the situation was over.

“The crowd looked really crazy so I hope everyone got home safe. Also I could’ve gone home after the fight broke out but I stayed and waited after 2 (Chainz) performed,” Saweetie wrote. “I went back on stage to finish my set because I care… (You) obviously don’t like me so why did you stay for the rest of my set when the festival was obviously over?”

Furthermore, Saweetie followed up her remarks with another tweet in which she reprimanded people for overlooking the seriousness of the incident and instead criticizing her.

“This was a serious matter, but you are all too obsessed with spreading this negative propaganda against me,” she added.

Nevertheless, Saweetie is expected to perform at Angie’s Summer BBQ on July 13, along with other artists such as Normani, Honey Bxby, Maiya Tha Don and Connie Diiamond.
