1 dead and 2 injured in shooting in Little Village

CHICAGO – One man is dead and two others were hospitalized Sunday night after a shooting on the city’s West Side.

According to Chicago police, the fatal shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Little Village.


Officers responded to the scene following an alert from gunshot detection technology. When they arrived, they found an unconscious 19-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials later confirmed that two other victims – a 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg and a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body – had taken themselves to the hospital after the shooting.

The condition of the 20-year-old man was described as critical, that of the woman as good.

The reason for the shooting is currently unclear. Authorities say there have been no arrests so far.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.
