Man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl is ‘beaten up’ by community members who recognised him from the wanted poster

Christian Inga is accused of rape, sexual abuse, robbery, threats, false imprisonment, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of children and possession of weapons following a horrific incident involving the teenagers last Thursday in Queens.

During his arraignment on Wednesday, prosecutors said Inga admitted to the crimes on video and added that he had a drug problem. He then took their cell phones, cut off their clothes with a “machete-like knife” and sexually assaulted the young girl.

On Monday, NYPD Crimestoppers has released photos of the suspect online, which shows the man on a bicycle and describes him as a “light-skinned male, 5’5″ tall, curly hair, red sneakers, wearing a green backpack” who also has “a bull tattoo with horns on his chest and suspenders.”

At around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, a group of people spotted Inga in a delicatessen and immediately took action.

“I came and grabbed him from the store because the situation made me angry, you know?” said Jeffrey Flores CBS New York. “I have two little sisters. And I’m having a daughter soon, you know? I couldn’t just walk away.”

“After that, I’m not going to lie, everyone just started beating him,” he said. The group allegedly tied Inga’s legs with a belt to prevent him from escaping.

The group then called the police, who found the suspect under a car when they arrived. NYPD Commissioner Edward Cabán praised the group, saying, “This is exactly what we mean when we say public safety is a shared responsibility. The last few days have proven to the world once again that the people of this city can come together and get the job done like no one else.”

Meanwhile, the youths were also praised by City Councilor Sandra Ung for being able to “provide police with a detailed description of their attacker, which ultimately helped identify the suspect” under “incredibly traumatic circumstances.”
