New Era Cap will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the 59FIFTY on Thursday

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo-based New Era Cap is getting ready to celebrate something you probably own a few of, whether you’re a cap lover or sports fan.

The brand’s iconic 59FIFTY style turns 70 this year, the flagship store will celebrate with its annual celebration on Thursday, May 9 or 5/9.

The cap is the official cap of the NFL, MLB and NBA.

“We’re going to have some awesome things going on in the store,” said brand historian Jim Wannemacher. “We’re going to bring in DJs, Perry’s ice cream is coming here with a special ice cream for us. We’re releasing limited edition caps that will be available for everyone.”

Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins will be at the store to sign autographs from 1 to 2 p.m.

The store will also be stocked with special 70th anniversary pins for people who purchase a cap.
