Today is officially the first day of summer, and it’s going to feel like it! The heat wave continues today, and highs are expected to rise above 95 degrees this afternoon. If the forecast holds true, this will be the 8th day in a row with temperatures of 95 degrees or higher in Nashville… the first time this has happened since 2012.

Get ready for extreme heat and humidity this weekend. Highs will be above 90 degrees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but heat index readings – or “feels like” temperatures – will be above 100 degrees. Because it can be dangerous to stay outside for too long in this kind of heat, we have Weather days of the first warning throughout the weekend. Be sure to stay hydrated, wear light/loose clothing and limit your time outdoors. Very little, if any, rain is expected this weekend, but there is a 20 percent chance of a sudden shower on Friday and Sunday as warming may cause some slight instability during the day. Lows will be between 21 and 25 degrees.

Even more extreme heat and humidity are expected this weekend.
