One of these new additions is the dead trees that started appearing on players’ farms as soon as the update went live and fall took place. Dead trees are recognizable by their name: trees whose leaves are falling off.

As in real life, this effect can be seen in winter, or what one would call autumn in Stardew Valley. Although the game developers paid great attention to detail, the dead trees do not have any visible damage other than losing their leaves and green appearance. Can dead trees be revived?

According to the official update log, not all trees lose their leaves in the fall. However, a common question about dead trees is whether they can be brought back to life. The answer is no.

Players cannot bring them back by watering them, nor would rain help. However, despite losing their “essence”, they can be used for a variety of other purposes, such as:

Felling trees to obtain wood.
Leave them untouched to give your farm an aesthetic effect.
Moving the taps from the dead tree to another tree to obtain additional tree-generated materials.
Trees can also replanted by their seeds. However, players must wait until spring to experience growth and “life” in the tree.

Dead trees have no effect on other trees on your farm.

Preventing tree death

Dead trees can be prevented. However, once you have planted the trees on your farm, nothing can be done. The good news is that certain locations on the Stardew Valley Map feature areas that do not experience autumn as in other areas. Names like The Desert and The Ginger Island can be found here.

Therefore, planting trees in both locations would ensure safety during fall and free up space on your farm to plant other trees or resources. The recommended location here is the desert as you have more space to plant seeds there which are considered profitable. The same cannot be said for Ginger Island. However, the latter can still be considered as a secondary option for planting trees to save them from dying due to fall.
