Houston County Businesses Prepare for Fourth of July Celebration

The Independence Day concert will take place on Saturday, June 29. Gate opens at McConnell Talbert Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The show starts at 7:00 p.m.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — What’s summer without live music, food trucks and community events? The town of Warner Robins is already gearing up for its annual Independence Day celebration.

Creed singer Scott Stapp and the band Jefferson Starship return to the big stage after being unable to perform last year due to bad weather.

This year, the celebration brings together more than 20 vendors. One of them is Root 76 Cuisine. The food truck is on Watson Boulevard Monday through Friday.

“We make everything from scratch. I’ve been a certified executive chef for almost 20 years,” says owner Jason Delasota.

He is used to taking orders and serving them hot. He says he’s excited and ready to tackle the huge dinner that accompanies the festival.

“It’s almost overwhelming with the number of customers and food vendors, but we’re really excited to be a part of the town and the festivities,” he says.

The heat doesn’t bring him out of the kitchen. This is the third year he has served food at the concert. He says it’s always a good time.

“Before we started the food truck, Darius Rucker was here in town a few years ago,” Delasota said. “It’s been an incredible experience ever since.”

He says he prepared a stacked menu.

“We have Buffalo chicken egg rolls, Philly cheese egg rolls. One of our signature dishes is beef tips and rice,” he says.

He also says they will have peach cobbler, catfish, burgers and more.

After eating a full meal, you may want dessert. Sibling-owned business Brownbrook Market has you covered. They are moving their business from Centerville Mall to McConnell Talbert.

“We’re going to bring flavored honey sticks, flavored nuts, we have our freeze-dried candy,” said Joshua Westbrook, one of the siblings.

He and his family will have more than 25 flavors of freeze-dried candy, as well as taffy and bars. His mother Kennethia Westbrook says they have already started preparing the orders.

“We partner with other small businesses, so we called them to prepare for a large crowd,” she said.

They are excited to serve families while creating their own memories.

“We’ve never been there as a family. We’ve driven by and said, ‘Oh my God, there’s a lot of people here,’ but we’ve never been there as a family,” Kennethia says.

You will be able to taste all the food and treats these vendors served you on Saturday, June 29. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. but the show starts at 7:00 p.m.
