Traffic Alert: Airplane crash on I-25 northbound near Larkspur, two right lanes closed

LARKSPUR, Colorado (KRDO) — Rescue crews are on the scene where a plane crashed on I-25 near Larkspur Sunday morning.

At around 7:45 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that it had responded to a crashed aircraft.

According to CSP, two people had to be extricated from the plane and taken to a hospital. Their injuries are currently unknown.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it was addressing a minor fuel leak and that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had been notified and would take over the crash investigation.

Between Exit 173: Spruce Mountain Road and Exit 174: Tomah Road (8 miles south of the Castle Rock exit), there is significant congestion at Mile Point 173.
