CPPCC is under regulatory investigation


Wu Yingjie, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and head of the Committee for Cultural and Historical Data and Studies of the CPPCC National Committee, is under disciplinary and administrative investigations, the country’s top anti-corruption agency said on Sunday.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission announced the investigation in a statement, saying he was suspected of seriously violating disciplinary measures and laws.

Wu, 67, is from Shandong province, started working in 1974 and joined the party in 1987.

He served in the Xizang Autonomous Region from 1974 to 2021, and held positions including head of the region’s education department, vice chairman of the region, and party chief. From October 2021 to March 2023, he served as deputy director of the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee of the National People’s Congress.
