Couple from Hanover arrested for assault on a child – WRBI Radio

(Hanover, IN) – The parents of a five-month-old child were arrested after Indiana State Police began investigating injuries the child allegedly sustained while in their care.

The investigation began last month when ISP detectives were called to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville after the little girl was brought there from Hanover with suspicious injuries.

According to police, initial investigations revealed that the girl was in the care of her mother, 24-year-old Makayla B. Turner, and her father, 28-year-old Skyler Hoffman-Jenkins, at the time of the injury.

After the investigation was completed, the case was presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, which issued arrest warrants for both parents on charges of aggravated assault on a child under 14 and neglect of a dependent person.

Both Turner and Hoffman-Jenkins were arrested without incident and taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await their first court date.

The Indiana Department of Child Services and Norton Children’s Hospital assisted in the investigation.
