Two police officers – one from the NYPD – were injured when a gunman opened fire outside a New Jersey hotel early Thursday morning, law enforcement sources said.

NYPD investigators were heading to the Raritan Hotel on King Georges Post Road, where they had tracked down a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in East Harlem, when the suspect’s girlfriend showed up, the sources said.

According to sources, the girlfriend made a scene and was handcuffed before the wanted shooter – who was inside the hotel – came out and fired.

According to sources, an NYPD officer was hit in the foot and a local Jersey police officer was hit in the back.

Video from the crime scene appears to show Kaz Daughtry, NYPD deputy chief of operations, arriving and leaving the crime scene in an unmarked SUV and an NYPD patrol car.

The NYPD did not comment on the early morning violence and referred the Post to authorities in the Garden State.

The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said the investigation was being handled by the state Attorney General’s Office.

A representative of that office did not immediately respond to a request for information.
