Minor girl raped by lover and his friends in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, six arrested – India News

Jharkhand police have arrested six of the seven people accused of raping a minor girl in Dhanbad district. One of the suspects also recorded the crime on a mobile phone, according to police.

The 14-year-old victim was reportedly raped by her underage lover and six of his friends on two consecutive days starting Sunday evening in Dhansar district.

Manoj Pandey, superintendent of Dhansar police station, said six of the seven accused, including the victim’s friend, have been arrested. Among the six, two are minors while the remaining four are adults. “They will be produced in court on Thursday,” he said, PTI reported.

According to the victim, her lover called her to Dhanbad railway station On Sunday evening, a police officer took her to a police station and took her to a house in Duhatand, where he and a friend raped her. After the act, they locked her in a room.

The following evening, she was raped in a bush near the house by five other friends of her boyfriend, the victim told police. When local residents heard the girl screaming for help, they rushed to the scene, but by that time all the suspects had already fled, the police officer said.

When the police searched the house where the victim’s friend lives, they found no one. They are also trying to find out where the victim’s family is. The victim is currently living in a home in Dhanbad and is being counselled by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Uttam Mukherjee, Chairman of the CWC, mentioned that they were trying to get the victim to reveal details about her family members, but she was not cooperating. The victim stated that her parents were deceased and her younger sister was living in Bihar.

“She also claimed that she lives with her uncle in Bihar. However, she refused to share his name and residential address. We are also trying to find out how she came to Dhanbad from Bihar,” Mukherjee said.

A police officer involved in the investigation said the girl’s statements were misleading the investigation. “Now we are hoping that by questioning the accused lover we will get details about the girl,” he said.
