SCHP: 1 dead, 1 injured after collision on US-178

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– One person is dead and another is injured after a collision on US-178, 3 miles west of Orangeburg, according to highway patrol.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, June 12, on US-178 at Shillings Bridge Road.

A 2007 Mercedes Benz was traveling east on US-178 when a 2002 Kia Sportage traveling north on Shillings Bridge Road collided at the intersection, SCHP says.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz was injured in the collision and taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The driver of the 2002 Kia Sportage was also taken to hospital with injuries.
