Fallon scam alert: Suspicious caller pretends to be Department of Homeland Security employee | News

In an online post, Fallon police are warning residents about a phone scam targeting their community.

The scam involves a fake phone number that appears to be the Fallon Police Department number.

The caller then pretends to be “Homeland Security” and claims that there is an arrest warrant out for the person called.

The caller threatens arrest if payment is not collected over the phone.

Fallon Police remind residents that they do not accept payments for arrest warrants.

All fees for arrest warrants would be processed directly through the relevant court.

The police point out that callers who are informed by telephone about an arrest warrant will be informed by the police about which court has jurisdiction and how much bail must be paid.

In addition, you will be asked to either contact the relevant court directly or report to the police.

The police advise citizens not to fall for this scam and not to give the caller any personal information.
