70-year-old allegedly sexually abused young girl

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A 70-year-old Ector County man was arrested earlier this month after an 8-year-old girl reported sexual assault. Tommy Chavez was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.

According to a report from the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, the child told authorities that Chavez sexually assaulted her at a home on N Mockingbird in early May, in February or March. The child described the act in detail and said Chavez did not stop the assault until a vehicle arrived at the home.

Chavez was arrested on a warrant on June 1 and remained at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on $50,000 bail until Monday afternoon.
