Tulsa Police Corruption Investigation: 2007-2015

13 years ago today, Two officers were acquitted and one found guilty after a jury returned with a verdict in less than five hours.

Tulsa police officers Nick DeBruin and Bruce Bonham were found not guilty on all counts, while retired TPD police officer Cpl. Harold R. Wells was found guilty on five of the 10 counts against him.

Bonham, 53, DeBruin, 38, and Wells, 60, have been on trial since May 31, 2011. The officers were charged with a total of 13 counts, including conspiracy, drug possession with the intent to resell, and planting drugs on those they arrested.

Between 2009 and 2011, eleven police officers were charged with criminal conduct in a corruption investigation into the Tulsa Police Department.

In addition, at least 48 people have been released from prison or have had their cases amended due to civil rights violations or potential problems with their cases. At least 17 lawsuits related to the scandal have been filed in federal or state courts.
