Rian Johnson reveals first photo from “Knives Out 3”

Daniel Craig’s famous Southern detective Benoit Blanc has a new look in a first photo from Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Crime Thrillerwhich was unveiled on Monday morning and which you can watch below.

The black-and-white still, showing Craig with long hair, was shared by filmmaker Rian Johnson to celebrate the start of production on the anticipated Netflix sequel.

“Aaaand here we go!” Johnson wrote in a message posted to X. “Today is the first day of filming on the next Benoit Blanc crime thriller ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ – see you on the other side.”

A contemporary revival of the crime genre, the Knife out Franchise focuses on the investigations of Craig’s character Blanc. While the plot for Wake up, dead man remains secret, Craig leads an ensemble cast that also includes Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack and Josh Brolin, as previously announced.

The franchise started with Johnson’s 2019 crime thriller Knife outstarring Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer and others, which grossed over $310 million worldwide. Due to the popularity of the first film, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay, Netflix acquired the rights to produce two sequels for $450 million – the first of which, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Crime Thrillerwas released in 2022. The first sequel also won an Oscar for its screenplay, but this time with a nomination in the Adapted category.
