Queens gunman shoots brother and wounds mother before killing himself

A gunman shot his brother and wounded their mother in their Queens home before running away and shooting himself, police sources said Sunday.

The brothers got into an argument at the family’s home on a sleepy Richmond Hill block around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. As the argument escalated, the 33-year-old older brother pulled out a gun and fired several shots inside the two-story brick rowhouse on 111th Street near 95th Avenue, sources said.

The shooter’s 27-year-old brother, who was shot several times all over his body, died at the scene. His name was not initially released.

Paramedics took the 52-year-old mother, who had been shot in the upper body, to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

The gunman ran to 96th Street and 109th Avenue, just over a mile away in Ozone Park, where he apparently shot himself in the head, sources said. Police found him dead on the quiet street, the gun next to his body.

The fatal incident marks the second homicide in the 102nd Precinct this year, which has seen seven homicides in all of 2023.
