Fire at vacant Bucks County learning center under investigation – NBC10 Philadelphia

Investigators believe a fire that broke out early Saturday morning at a vacant educational center in Bucks County was intentionally set.

According to officials, police and firefighters responded to the Willie Wee Learning Center on Norton Avenue in Bristol Township around 2:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a fire and children trapped in the basement.

Upon arrival, officers said no one was found inside or outside the building. The fire was contained to a storage room in the basement and officers ruled it arson.

The learning center is owned by the Baptist Church on Norton Avenue. A spokesman for the church said that homeless people have been found in the building in the past, officials said.

The learning center and several surrounding buildings are slated for demolition to make way for a three-story apartment building, officials said. One of the other buildings, which formerly housed a food pantry, was the target of another arson attack in January.
