Kangana Ranaut slapping incident: Actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee and sister Rangoli react: “It is not just about one individual, but

Kangana Ranaut, the newly elected BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, made headlines yesterday when she was slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official at the Chandigarh airport. The accused policewoman, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, raised strong objections to Kangana’s controversial remarks during the 2020 farmers’ protest. Kaur is now suspended and a senior CISF official also said that they are in the process of filing an FIR against the policewoman, as reported PTI.

In support of Kangana, actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee from the hit television series Saath Nibhana Saathiya also spoke out and said that “such actions are a serious breach of public trust and safety protocols.”

She added that a dutiful officer should never allow personal grudges to interfere with his professional duties.

She added, “To support the actions of this CISF officer is to justify a crime and spread unnecessary hatred. It is important to remember that condoning such behaviour sets a dangerous precedent and potentially enables others to seek personal revenge under the cloak of authority. We must collectively condemn this act and ensure that those in power are held accountable.”

“I urge everyone to think about how they would feel if a similar incident happened to their loved ones. This is not just about one individual, but about the standards of conduct we expect from those entrusted with our safety. Let us stand up for justice, impartiality and a system where personal bias has no place in our security forces,” she added.

Kangana also posted an Instagram story in which she slammed Bollywood and called them “All eyes on the Rafah gang”. She also said, “This can happen to you or your children too. If you celebrate a terrorist attack on someone, be prepared for the day it comes back to haunt you too.”

Kangana Ranaut also posted an Instagram story criticising Bollywood

Apart from Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel also posted stories on Instagram and wrote, “Khalistanio bas yehi aukaat hai tum logoki… peechey se plan karna aur attack karna… but my sister’s backbone is of steel… she will get this alone… but Punjab tera kya hoga #farmersprotest was khalistani adda… proven once again!! This was a serious security threat… this needs to be brought to the forefront!!

She added: “The suspension was imposed when this was not the case… I am now awaiting remand… I will be remanded in custody…”

Congress MP Vikramaditya Singh, who protested against Kangana in Mandi, termed the incident very unfortunate and demanded action against the official concerned. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said, “It is unfortunate when such incidents happen and they should not happen to anyone, especially a woman. It is unfortunate that this was done by a security official. We have come to know that the security official had some complaints related to the farmer’s protest.”

Kangana’s statement on the incident

Kangana said the incident took place during the security check at Chandigarh airport and alleged that she was slapped because the CISF personnel were “supporting the farmers’ protests”. The BJP leader issued a statement on the incident, saying she was fine and narrating the events in detail.

“I am getting a lot of calls, both from the media and my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine,” she said. “As soon as I came out of the security check, the lady from the second booth, a CISF security guard, came from the side, slapped my face and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did that, she said that she supports the farmers’ protests,” the MP-elect said. “I am safe, but I am worried about the terrorism and extremism that is on the rise in Punjab…” she added.
