Heinen’s issues allergy warning for possibly contaminated salad

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – An allergy alert has been issued for a Heinen’s product that may contain tree nuts not declared on the product packaging.

Heinen’s is voluntarily recalling Tuscan Salad Bowls from its stores because there is a possibility that they contain undeclared pecans, the company said.

“Although there have been no reports of injury, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to pecans should avoid this product out of an abundance of caution,” Heinen’s wrote in a statement.

According to Heinen’s, the recall was initiated after it was discovered that a product containing pecans was sold in Tuscan salad bowls that did not contain any additional allergens.

According to the grocer, the salad bowls were sold in Heinen’s stores in Ohio and Illinois.

The company states that the containers are sold by weight and that the affected batch has the UPC number 2-08888-40849-3 and a best before date of June 2, 2024. Investigations have shown that this is the only best before date affected.

If you have purchased this product, please discard it and return it to your local Heinen’s retailer for a full refund.
