Border Patrol Agent Arrested for Human Smuggling – Tickle The Wire

A border patrol agent in Arizona was arrested for human smuggling.

Jorge Alonso was charged with smuggling and criminal conspiracy.

According to a press release from the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, prosecutors allege Alonso helped an undocumented immigrant pass through a port of entry by providing false information and documents, including a fake U.S. birth certificate.

“Alonso is alleged to have encouraged and directed an undocumented immigrant to enter the United States through a border crossing and to make a claim for legal immigration status,” the press release states. “Alonso is also alleged to have presented a forged U.S. birth certificate. The goal of the conspiracy was to create a basis for further illegal border crossings based on the forged U.S. birth certificate.”

Alonso was arrested on May 22.

The investigation was conducted by the Attorney General’s Office, CBP, Office of Professional Responsibility, Homeland Security Investigations and the Office of Inspector General.
