HORRIBLE | Parents went to vote, seven-year-old girl raped and murdered in Odisha

Villagers found the girl’s body and arrested the accused. They later handed him over to the police. According to PTI, a case has been registered under sections 376AB (rape) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), an official said.

Most notably, Odisha recorded a voter turnout of 49.77 per cent in six Lok Sabha constituencies and 42 parliamentary wards till 3 pm on Saturday, officials said. Voting began at 7 am in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur parliamentary wards and in the 42 parliamentary wards falling under these Lok Sabha seats.

In Odisha, the BJP is set to score a notable result. The Times Now-ETG poll predicts the party will win 13 out of 21 seats in the Lok Sabha. This projection represents a significant setback for the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which is expected to win only 8 seats. Both the BJP and the BJD are expected to get an equal vote share of 43% each, underscoring the tough electoral battle in the state.
