Lompoc man arrested for connection to shooting, found with sawed-off shotgun

A 34-year-old man from Lompoc was arrested on a weapons charge.

Detectives with the Lompoc Police Department issued a search and arrest warrant for 34-year-old Luis Armando Vela for his connection to a shooting in April of this year. Officers found a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle and a homemade firearm called a zip gun, as well as numerous cartridges.

Vela was taken into custody and charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun and a zip gun.
