Houston Texans sign WR Nico Collins to three-year contract extension

The Houston Texans signed a wide receiver Nico Collins to a three-year contract extension, Diana Russini from Athleticism reported. He is expected to earn around $24 million per year under the new deal.

Collins is coming off a career season in which he finished with 80 catches for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the team. THE Michigan former just completed his third professional season after being selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Collins is just the fourth Texas receiver in franchise history to record 1,000 yards in a single season, joining Brandin cooks, DeAndre Hopkins And Andrew Johnson. He was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract this season, and the extension locks him into the team through 2027.

Collins caught a total of 70 passes for 927 yards and three touchdowns in his first two seasons in Houston, so last year represented a big step forward. It also coincided with the team’s first playoff appearance since 2019.
