Incidents involving the NYPD in Bushwick and Brownsville in Brooklyn, NY leave one dead and one injured

BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) – One suspect is dead and another injured following two separate police-involved incidents in Brooklyn early Sunday.

The first incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. in Bushwick.

NYPD officials said two uniformed police officers responding to a domestic violence call were sitting in their vehicle when a man approached them and knocked on their police car.

They said he was holding two knives and both of them used their tasers.

The suspect dropped a knife, but then got up and charged toward her.

Both officers fired their weapons, hitting and killing him.

The second incident occurred near the corner of Sutter and Ralph Avenue in Brownsville.

Officials reported that Bronx Narcotics Detectives observed an argument outside a store in which a man pointed a gun at a woman.

They pursued the suspect on foot.

The officers and the suspect collided in a driveway.

The man threw the gun but was injured.

He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery.

Officials said detectives were assigned to investigate gang violence and likely prevented a shooting.
