Man arrested for car theft and murder

RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) – On May 12, following a call to police about an allegedly stolen vehicle, police met with the rideshare driver at 3276 Campbell Street at 3:45 a.m.

The driver had recently picked up a driver, later identified as Cole Younger, 35, of Rapid City, and driven him to 1600 Sedivy Lane. Upon arrival, Younger exited the car, entered the B&T Manufacturing building and emerged a short time later. The driver then took Younger to 3276 Campbell Street. When he arrived at the Circle K, Younger produced a knife and ordered the driver to get out of the car.

A Pennington County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the car a short time later as he drove east on Catron Boulevard. After a traffic stop was ordered, the car stopped in the area of Highway 79 and Old Folsom Road. Younger was taken out of the car and handcuffed. Younger was then arrested for first-degree robbery and driving without a valid license and was subsequently taken to the Pennington County Jail.

Later that morning at 11 a.m., police were called to 1313 N. Lacrosse Street for a report of an unresponsive female in a room at the Rodeway Inn Rapid City.

Police determined the woman was dead and had a laceration to her neck. She was identified as Brandi Snowfly, 41, of Rapid City. According to preliminary findings from the investigation, the police assume that Snowfly entered the hotel with Cole Younger. After an unknown amount of time, Younger left the hotel before calling the rideshare service.

As a result, first-degree murder was added to Younger’s felony charges and he remains in custody. It is believed Younger and Snowfly knew each other before her death, and police have no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
