Hailie Deegan leaves the FOX show after the Darlington incident

NASCAR driver Hailie Deegan was involved in an incident that was not fully shown on television

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race took place at Darlington Raceway on Saturday. After the race, a driver is dissatisfied with the television coverage.

With just 46 laps left in the 147-lap race, Hailie Deegan spun and was cautioned.

The left rear tire exploded. It then ripped the left rear fender off the car, taking some door foam with it.

NASCAR requires cars to have foam in the doors for safety reasons. It serves to mitigate the effects. Due to the lack of foam, Deegan was unable to rejoin the race.

Television coverage of the incident only showed Deegan turning. However, there is more to the story.

Comments by Hailie Deegan

“Before everyone jumps to conclusions, I was in the top lane and the 07 (who was a lap down) threw me out of Turn 4, tearing my LR tire in the process,” Hailie Deegan explained via X.

The No. 07 is driven by Patrick Emerling.

She added: “I was holding it away from the wall when my tire was shredded, but we weren’t allowed to continue without the door foam. “It’s not my fault there won’t be a repeat.”

Deegan currently drives full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for AM Racing. Her best result to date was 12th place, which she achieved at Talladega Superspeedway.
