Police are investigating a pedestrian accident on the highway in West Haven

According to the Department of Transportation, northbound Interstate 95 in West Haven reopened Sunday morning after an early morning crash involving a pedestrian.

At approximately 3:47 a.m. Sunday, officers arrived near Exit 43 for a report of a car accident. According to state police, one person suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The victim’s condition remains unknown, state police with Troop G said.

According to state police, the highway was closed between exits 42 and 43 for several hours and traffic was rerouted due to the accident.

Interstate 95 northbound reopened around 10 a.m. and police said the investigation is ongoing.
