Suspect arrested for drive-by shooting and unlawful possession of a firearm

On 05/10/24 in the early morning hours, Spokane Police arrested a male suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on 04/18/24 in the 5900 block of North Lindeke Street. The suspect has been receiving medical treatment since then. Probable cause was found to charge the man with Drive By Shooting, 1st Degree: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Discharge of a Weapon.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on September 24th. The SPD was informed that the suspect had left a treatment facility contrary to medical advice and his whereabouts were unknown. Officers began an extensive search for the man, which ended with his arrest in Perry County around 3 a.m. Alert SPD officers recognized the vehicle in which the suspect left the medical facility and contacted the suspect, who was a passenger. He was picked up at the facility by a woman.

Zachary M. Nelson, 31, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of Drive-by Shooting, 1st Degree: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Discharge of a Weapon. Nelson was also charged with a new charge of violating a court order.
