According to authorities, he is 21 years old

John Hidalgo

was traveling southbound on US 281 near the Loop 1604 intersection in a Ford F-150 pickup when the accident occurred.

At the time of the accident, southbound traffic at the intersection reportedly had a green light, while the turn lane for northbound traffic on the highway had a yellow signal. For reasons that remain unclear, a northbound Peterbilt truck with a trailer in tow on US 281 attempted to turn left onto Loop 1604 at one point

Unsafe time, southbound traffic may not be given the right of way. This caused the southbound pickup truck to swerve to the right to avoid a collision with the 18-wheeler. Unfortunately, the pickup collided head-on with a signpost and then crashed into a bridge wall under an overpass.

As a result of the accident, Mr. Hidalgo suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported by emergency services to a local medical facility for necessary treatment.

The incident is currently under investigation.
