Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty in Sex Trafficking Case

A Buffalo man who forced minors into prostitution by exploiting their drug addiction has pleaded guilty to coercive sex trafficking, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced.

Steven Gonzalez, 48, also known as Steven Hernandez, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine when he returns Nov. 26 for sentencing before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr.

Prosecutors said Gonzalez provided a minor identified as AN with cocaine in exchange for sex and then coerced AN into performing commercial sex acts between 2012 and 2015.

Gonzalez also exploited another minor identified as BE, who was addicted to heroin, in 2012 and 2013, prosecutors noted.
