Sebring residents may have wondered why police converged on a normally quiet neighborhood Thursday evening.

Village police said they were called to the 100 block of South Johnson Road shortly after 7 p.m. after dispatchers were told a man was pointing a gun at people.

According to a post on the police Facebook page, upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect’s gold pickup truck, which may have been involved.

With help from Smith Township and the Goshen Police District, officers closed off streets and surrounded a home where they believed the suspect lived.

After trying to lure the man out of the house using their loudspeakers, police eventually spoke to the man through a window of the house and convinced him to give up peacefully.

As of early Friday, police had not released the suspect’s name or explained why he had a gun.
