Woman arrested in Franklin County after nearly hitting police officer and police dog during traffic stop

The New York woman was charged after officers found a large amount of drugs in her car.

A 29-year-old New York woman is facing serious charges in federal court after she nearly struck a police officer and police dog while trying to flee, according to Wilton police. The arrest came when the Maine State DEA and other agencies executed a search warrant on a home on Village View Street in Wilton around 12:50 p.m. Monday. Local police stopped one of the cars, which was seen leaving the area on Main Street. About 10 minutes into the investigation, a police dog and its handler were sniffing around the front of the car. Then, police say, the driver, Tasia Jackson of New York City, suddenly sped down Route 2 East and Maxwell Road, nearly colliding with the officer and police dog. Jackson was stopped and arrested several miles away on Riley Road in Jay. After searching her car, officers reportedly found a large amount of suspected drug proceeds, suspected drug trafficking materials and an estimated 300 grams or more of crack and powder cocaine. Jackson now faces four charges, including aggravated reckless conduct, fleeing a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and dangerous driving.
