Man arrested after fatal shooting in northeast Portland

A man has been charged with murder in the death of 34-year-old Ozell Shepherd, who was found shot to death in Portland’s Wilkes neighborhood.

PORTLAND, Oregon – Portland police on Tuesday arrested a man who shot and killed another man in the Wilkes neighborhood in May.

Alex M. Brown-Golden, 23, is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a firearm in the death of Ozell Shepherd, 34. Portland police said Shepherd’s family has been notified of the arrest.

At around 5 a.m. on May 4, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 15700 block of Northeast Beech Street. When officers arrived, they found Shepherd dead in the street.

Portland police said the suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

Brown-Golden is currently in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
