RCMP say Surrey woman was sexually abused at home

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Surrey is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a stranger in the Bear Creek area.

On July 20 at approximately 3 a.m., frontline officers and the LMD Integrated Police Dog Service Unit responded to a report of a sexual assault in the 14100 block of 91 Avenue.

The victim told police that she screamed for help when she was woken up by a man groping her in her apartment. When the woman screamed, the man fled.

Daily Hive reached out to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Surrey, but they were unable to provide any further information on how the man managed to break into their home.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the suspect, described as a South Asian man in his early 20s, 5’7″ to 5’10” tall, of average build and with a long black beard, to come forward.

Anyone with additional information about the suspect who has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote case number 2024-106141.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has taken over the case and is searching the area using video surveillance footage. The Surrey RCMP Victim Support Service is assisting the victim.
