FIRST WARNING: Excessive heat and humidity over the weekend and beware of the chance of rain

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Humidity remains high and there is a slight chance of rain over the next few days in the desert Southwest.

In addition, a high pressure area will continue to strengthen and bring back great heat by Friday.

The additional moisture keeps the dew point elevated, especially in the morning and at night.

In the afternoon it will be a little drier with dew points around 10 degrees.

Our surveillance camera for excessive heat has been further developed into a Excessive heat WARNING for Yuma and Imperial Counties, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.

Temperatures can reach highs of 48 degrees Celsius over the weekend, so be sure to take heat protection measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The heat and slightly humid conditions will accompany us throughout the weekend, which is why I Weather Authority First Alert Action Days for Friday-Sunday.

Another wave of moisture will arrive early next weekend, increasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms.
