Summerville man arrested after stabbing man to death

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred on July 14 in Ladson.

Officers arrested Dwayne Bell, 38, of Summerville, on July 14. Bell is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and burglary, authorities said.


On July 14, officers arrived at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Persian Lane, off Von Ohsen Road, where a person waved at them and commented that someone had been stabbed.

The sheriff’s office said that when officers entered the home, they discovered an unconscious man on the kitchen floor. Officers attempted to save the man’s life, but EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner identified the man as Jeremy Mack, 37, of Summerville.

North Charleston police stopped a vehicle matching the suspect’s description late that evening. Police said they initiated a traffic stop and called Charleston County officers to respond.

Bell was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Authorities said he was arrested without incident and is currently being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Services Division.
