One arrested after police chase, suspect identified

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A person was arrested Tuesday after leading multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Ector County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, on a chase through Odessa.

According to Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis, the suspect, identified as Seth Amos, was wanted by the U.S. Marshal on a federal warrant. Griffis did not know the exact charges but said Amos could face new charges, including evading arrest.

Amos was captured on video leading investigators up West County Road; he was then seen crossing the 42and Street where the chase ended in front of Starbucks.

Griffis called Amos’ actions “reckless” and “dangerous” and said penalties for tax evasion must be increased to prevent more people from committing crimes that put innocent citizens in danger.

According to jail records, Amos has a long criminal history dating back to 2010; he has been charged multiple times with evading arrest, burglary, drug possession, assault on a child, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and more.

We will update this story as more details become available.
