Victim of mass shooting at Detroit street festival released from hospital

DETROIT – Police said all 19 people injured in a mass shooting at a Detroit street festival have been released from the hospital.

The shooting occurred on Sunday, July 7, in the area of ​​Reno Street and Rossini Drive. Two people were killed and 19 others injured.

By Wednesday, July 11, eleven victims were able to leave the hospital. The remaining eight were discharged by Saturday, July 13.

Detroit police said they have no one in custody. Investigators are analyzing forensic evidence that indicates the shooting was not random.

The department has also launched an internal investigation in the response to the mass shooting.

Authorities say a group of officers with a supervisor were tasked with breaking up a large gathering southwest of the massacre. The supervisor is now under investigation for his reaction when he was told to drop everything and come to the scene.

The dispatch center informed the supervisor that several shots had been fired and several people were injured. The supervisor informed the dispatch center that he could not release the officers. This decision is currently under review.
