Felix Arnaz, 56, of San Jose, was arrested on the evening of July 3 on the other side of the city, near where the bomb threat occurred, just hours after San Jose police were called to Ridder Park Drive and Fox Drive, north of East Brokaw Road.

There, the San Jose Police Department’s bomb disposal unit and SWAT team responded to Arnaz’s claim that he had placed an explosive device behind a business, police said. Officers did indeed find an object that resembled an explosive device and “determined it to be an incomplete but functional explosive device.”

Police searched the area for other possible explosives but said they did not find any.

During the subsequent investigation, Arnaz was identified as a suspect; police said they tracked him to his car in a parking lot near Aborn Avenue and Ruby Avenue in the Evergreen neighborhood.
