Mumbai Local Update: Train services suspended on Kalyan-Kasara route after heavy rains – Details inside – Railways News

Local train services between Kasara and Titwala railway stations in Thane district bordering Mumbai in Maharashtra came to a standstill on Sunday morning (July 7) due to heavy rains and a fallen tree, officials said.

“As per RGM Machine report, due to heavy rain, soil entered the tracks on Down Line between ATGAON, at Km 96/42 at 05:30 am. Engineering Control declared the track unsafe at 06:20 am,” DRM Mumbai CR said in a tweet.

“Latest update: Ongoing restoration work will take up to 2 to 3 hours until traffic returns to normal,” it said.

Fallen tree and mud on the tracks paralyze train traffic on the Kalyan-Kasara route

At around 6:30 am, downpour caused soil to slide onto the tracks between Atgaon and Thansit railway stations, while a fallen tree blocked the tracks near Vashind railway station, disrupting rail traffic on the crucial Kalyan-Kasara route.

A spokesman for the Central Railway (CR) confirmed the temporary suspension of train services between Kasara and Titwala and around the same time declared the tracks unsafe.

“Train services between Kasara and Titwala have been temporarily suspended,” said a Central Railway (CR) spokesperson.

Furthermore, another CR spokesperson mentioned that an overhead line mast had fallen over, catching the pantograph of a train near Vashind. Immediately, restoration work was initiated to clear the tracks and resume normal operations quickly.

The local transport service is of vital importance for Mumbai and the adjoining areas of Thane, Palghar and Raigad. Over 3 million commuters use the local transport network of CR every day.
