Accused sex trafficker and rapist Andrew Tate allowed to leave Romania

Misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate has been told he can leave Romania before facing trial on human trafficking and rape charges. He and his brother Tristan, known for their online “Hustlers University” courses and sexist language, both deny charges of a string of sex crimes. They had been subject to travel bans but on Friday a court in Bucharest ruled they can now travel within the European Union. According to Sky News, Romanian prosecutors allege the Tate brothers and two other women lured their victims into sham marriages and relationships and then forced them to create pornographic content. Following the verdict, Tate, who has dual American and British citizenship, announced on X: “I AM FREE. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS I CAN LEAVE ROMANIA. THE MOCK CASE IS FALLING APART.” Tate then went on a rant about which of his sports cars he should drive around Europe in. The Tate brothers were previously accused of sexually and physically abusing four women in the UK, but the case was dropped in 2019. In another case from 2012, the brothers were accused of sexual assault. In March, a British court announced they would be extradited to the UK after their Romanian trial.
