Driver loses control, dies in head-on collision in Ramona

RAMONA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 63-year-old driver died Wednesday when his car collided with another vehicle in Ramona, authorities said.

The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. on State Route 78 near Salmon Road, Officer Jared Grieshaber of the California Highway Patrol confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI.

A Ramona resident was driving a Chevrolet S-10 westbound at the above location when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with an eastbound Isuzu box truck, according to CHP.

The Chevrolet driver died of his injuries at the scene, while the driver of the van, a 46-year-old from El Cajon, was uninjured. Both drivers were the only people in their vehicles.

Authorities do not believe that drunk driving was a cause of the accident.
